JLP’s 5th Annual Pelham Loves to Read Event

POPULAR CHILDREN’S BOOK AUTHOR TO APPEAR AT  JUNIOR LEAGUE OF PELHAM’S FIFTH ANNUAL“PELHAM LOVES TO READ” EVENTJanuary 30, 2009 Pelham,NY–The Junior League of Pelham’s fifth Annual “Pelham Loves to Read” event will feature Debbie Dadey, bestselling author of “The Bailey School Kids.” Dadey will give a presentation and book reading at the event on Saturday, February 14 at 2:00 PM at The Town of Pelham Public Library. This event is free and open to kids ages K-5 and their parents/caregivers.Since its inception in 2004, the JLP’S “Pelham Loves to Read” event has raised awareness of reading and literacy in Pelham. To date, the project has raised over $30,000 through the sales of luminaries and tote bags, in addition to donations, for Pelham’s libraries and educational organizations. Past recipients have included: the Town ofPelham Public Library,PelhamMiddle School,HutchinsonElementary School, and the Pelham Education Foundation. This year, the JLP will donate to the Town ofPelham Public Libraryand Pelham Education Foundation, in addition to hosting the book reading event.Debbie Dadey is the author of several bestselling series for young readers, includingThe Adventures of theBaileySchoolKids, Swamp Monster, Slime Wars, andGhostville Elementary.
