10th Annual Community Leaders’ Round Table, Wednesday, October 27th

JUNIOR LEAGUE OF PELHAM HOLDS TENTH ANNUAL COMMUNITY LEADERS’ ROUND TABLE ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27TH

The Junior League of Pelham will hold the annual Community Leaders’ Round Table meeting at the Pelham Art Center on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 7:30p.m.Each year since 2000, the JLP Community Affairs Council brings together leaders from not-for-profit community organizations in Pelham and neighboring communities to foster an open discussion about local initiatives and issues, and to coordinate project efforts where appropriate.  This year’s theme is “SURVIVING in Difficult Economic Times,” focusing on each organization’s best practices for coping under tough fiscal constraints.  35 community leaders attended last year’s event, including representatives from the Pelham Civic Association, Knights of Columbus, Westchester Family Services and more.  Maggie Klein, Publisher and Editor,The Pelham Weeklywill be the featured speaker followed by the round table discussion.Another key topic will be the JLP’s Community Grants Program for the 2010-2011 fiscal year.  Introduced in 2005, the program establishes criteria by which local not-for-profit community organizations can apply for grants on an annual basis.  Grants are awarded for projects and programs that support the League’s mission, vision, and focus areas: healthy families, education, and Pelham improvement.  Up to $4,500 will be distributed in total for this year, with individual grants ranging from $100 and up.  Applications are available online atwww.jlpelham.org.Any not-for-profit organization based in Pelham or the surrounding communities is welcome to attend the meeting.  For more information about the JLP Community Affairs Round Table or the Community Grants Program please contact Colleen Maiberger, JLP Community Affairs Chair, atc_ohagan@yahoo.com.The Junior League of Pelham is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Visitwww.jlpelham.orgfor more information.Press Contact:  Diana Lada,dianalada@hotmail.com
