On February 4, 2017, Pass it on Pelham!, a Junior League of Pelham program, hosted a drive to collect gently-used baby gear and clothing for kids aged 0-16 at the Manor Club located in Pelham Manor, NY.

Over 30 bags of clothes, shoes, and baby gear were collected for families in Pelham and surrounding communities. The Junior League of Pelham will be coordinating deliveries over the next few weeks with beneficiaries such as St. Dominick’s Foster Home in the Bronx to get the donations directly into the hands of families in need.

“It was an amazing event,” said Pelham resident, Tyson Newton Stephens. “Not only were people able to clear out some extra clothes and gear, they were able to make a real contribution to Pelham and the surrounding areas.  There was one man who brought in over 15 large garbage bags of clothes – all with a great big grin!”

In addition to collecting donations, the Junior League of Pelham hosted entertainment for the whole family, including music by Zev, Juggles the Clown and crafts for St. Valentine’s Day.  Over 40 parents and children came to donate and enjoy the activities.

“We were really impressed by the turnout and feel grateful to live in a town with so many hardworking and caring people,” said committee co-chair, Heena Jain. “The Valentine’s Day theme fit perfectly in sharing our love of the community and spreading smiles amongst the kids.  With so many donations, we are sure to help many families in need. Thank you Pelham!”

Since its inception in 2015, Pass it on Pelham! has reached hundreds of families in lower Westchester and the Bronx. The Junior League of Pelham will continue to host drives at the Manor Club, located at 1023 Esplanade in Pelham Manor.
