[Pelham, NY] Hundreds of attendees gathered at Pelham Country Club in March to support the Junior League of Pelham’s gala. This year’s theme, ‘Casino for a Cause’, featured a live New Orleans jazz band, a first-rate auction and a plentiful gaming tables. Attendees, many of whom wore festive masks, played blackjack and dined on dishes from the Bayou, all while raising more than $23,000.

The proceeds from the event contribute to the local community programs the JLP supports, including My Sister’s Place, CSA Services of Mount Vernon and the backpack program at the Boys and Girls Cub of New Rochelle, which provides groceries for 25 food insecure families each week.

“The heart of Junior League of Pelham’s mission is to improve the lives of children and families in our community, so it was incredibly fitting that this event was designed to directly benefit these worthwhile programs,” said Romina Levy, JLP President. “The money we raised allows us to continue meeting these pressing needs, and to continue to respond to new challenges in the future.”

In addition to the attendees, the main sponsor was Meridian Risk Management and Chubb, with a host of local businesses also sponsoring, including McClellan, Julia B Fee – The Mellstrom-Bischof Team, Blue Dog Wines and Spirits and The Life in Your Years Photography.

Donors to the live auction, including JetBlue, Bayside Travel, Brasserie Ruhlmann and NBCUniversal were instrumental in making the night a success.

“We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors and donors for their generosity and commitment to the greater Pelham community,” said Penny O’Brien and Meredith McGinn, the JLP fundraising co-chairs. “They truly made this night happen.”
