Junior League of Pelham’s Provisional Class Transforms Reception Area of Family Services of Westchester’s Mount Vernon Office

Pelham’s AG Williams Painting Company Donated All Paint Services and Supplies

January 25, 2010, Pelham, New York The Junior League of Pelham’s provisional class recently made over the reception area of the Family Services of Westchester office in Mt. Vernon. The update was the provisional class project, an essential part of the JLP’s volunteer training for incoming members. Pelham-based AG Williams Painting Company donated all paint services and supplies. A grand re-opening and unveiling of the new space took place February 4 at the site, attended by more than 30 people, including Virginia Hartmere, President of the JLP.

“The transformation of the office has lifted the spirits of our clients and our staff," says FSW District Administrator, Jean Williams.

The reception area upgrade will help Family Services of Westchester (FSW), which specializes in evaluation, treatment, education and counseling for families, couples and individuals, to better serve their clients and boost employee morale by providing a warm, uplifting atmosphere. In addition to a new paint job courtesy of Pelham-based AG Williams Painting Company, the JLP’s makeover also included steam-cleaning the carpets as well as coordinating the donation of chairs, plants and magazine subscriptions. The class also created a children’s corner filled with both new and gently used toys, books and puzzles. Artwork, including black and white photos, a felt design and poems, by Darius Cousart, Christopher Muhammad-Cooper, Jeffrey Maitre and Meisha Nelson, students at Nelson Mandela High School in Mt. Vernon, adorn the walls of the new space

“We wanted to collaborate to create a safe, comfortable environment for FSW's clients as well as their staff,” says JLP project co-chair, Tyson Newton.

The JLP would like to thank AG Williams Painting Company of Pelham, who generously donated their painting services as well as paint, drop cloths and brushes.

The JLP would also like to thank the students from Nelson Mandela High School for their artwork submissions.
